We meet at Clayton State University Library

We meet every other month starting in February, at Clayton State University in the University Center room 265.
We start at 3pm and end around 5pm. Everyone age 16 or older is welcome, from beginners to experts.

Park in the "G" area and walk to the University Center "12" on the map. Go to the entrance on the East Side. Once inside, look for our classroom across from the entrance to the Library.

Next meeting September 11 2011

For our September meeting Dee LeClair will be showing us how to create our own custom family calendar using free software from Creative Memories.  You may want to bring the following to our next meeting:
1. Laptop: if you have one and wish to start a calendar project during this session.
2.Pre-load the free version of the StoryBook Software (this CD was handed out at the holiday party) you can also download it at http://www.creativememories.com/Content/Shop/FreeStorybookCreatorSoftware.aspx
3. Be thinking of a theme you would like to do: Family, heritage, Vacation, Pet, Recipe, etc..
4. Images or documents to be scanned & added to your calendar. There will be a couple of scanners on hand for us to use.
5. List of dates you would like to add to your calendar like: birthdays, anniversaries, regular meetings, family reunion, etc
We will be learning a lot. Best of all the demonstrations you see can be used to start creating your own Family History Book.

NARA and Georgia Archives Classes this week

1. NARA is looking for volunteers!!

2.NARA has a workshop this week. "How to Search NARA's Website" Wednesday, August 10 2011. from 12:30 to 1:30.
The workshop is free and open to the public. Enrollment is limited to 15 people. Call 770-968-2100 to register.

3.Georgia Archives lunch and learn. Friday August 12. "DeKalb History Center: Local Resources at Their Best." from 12-1pm. Free and Open to the public. No registration required. "What does a county-wide History Center collect? What local resources does DHC have to share with researchers and how are they made available? Learn more aobut what this 63 year old organization has to offer you."
