We meet at Clayton State University Library

We meet every other month starting in February, at Clayton State University in the University Center room 265.
We start at 3pm and end around 5pm. Everyone age 16 or older is welcome, from beginners to experts.

Park in the "G" area and walk to the University Center "12" on the map. Go to the entrance on the East Side. Once inside, look for our classroom across from the entrance to the Library.

Conducting Cluster Research & Organizing Research Materials/Documents & Photos

Month 9 of the Genealogy Do-Over! Can you believe we are almost through the whole year already?
I hope you can join us on September 11th at Clayton State University.

Last month during the meeting we discussed Collateral Research, but this month we will discuss Cluster Research (friends, associates and neighbors who were a part of the community of your direct line of ancestors.) Some of Thomas McEntee's tips are to always use a research log, formulate theories and write them down, check your spelling variations, stop relying on records that are indexed, try swapping given and middle names, search by address and leave no stone unturned.

At this point in the Do-Over you have probably collected a lot of hard copies of documents and photographs. We will be discussing varies methods of organizing our research materials, documents and photos at our next meeting too. You may have some digital copies too, we will discuss organizing the digital stuff next month.

Hopefully you have been following along with the Do-Over online or on their Facebook Group. Make sure to check out their Pinterest page too.
